The Far West Missouri Stake invites each ward, branch, and family to make a plan to serve with your community on Saturday, 14 September 2024.
“May we go forward doing our best to exemplify the two great commandments—to love God and love each of His children. Arm in arm & shoulder to shoulder, may we strive to lift our brothers and sisters everywhere, in every way we can. This world will never be the same”
- President Russell M. Nelson at the NAACP’s 110th annual national convention in Detroit, Michigan, on July 21, 2019
Try to include:
□ Ways that all ages and abilities can help
□ Churches or community groups to serve with you
□ Someone to take photos and do a write-up for social media, and post on unithistory.churchofjesuschrist.org
Example: A large Genealogy project could include online indexing, story recording at nursing homes, cemetery photos through billion graves, indexing library records, youth pairing up with older people to take and post photos and videos of important documents, objects, photos, etc.
Other ideas:
✔ A food drive for local pantries and have youth deliver to stock shelves.
✔ Collect 5 gallon buckets and items to fill them for people without homes. (Resource: God’s Bucket Brigade)
✔ Kansas City Heroes -- could use a drive of tents, tarps, toiletries, etc for the homeless people in KC that they serve.
✔ Parks and Rec usually need help for large projects (City, County, or State Parks).
✔ School playgrounds could use painting: painting the equipment or painting the US map, times tables, planets, hopscotch, or other things.
✔ Clothing drive, clothes organized, and then a big community give away.
✔ Meals on wheels, hospice groups, and nursing homes always have needs - and a special need for cheer!
✔ Ask the churches or organizations in your community what they need help with.
✔ Look at JustServe for projects or non-profits already posted who might need a large project. Also the success stories will inspire ideas.
